Of Stairway to Heaven and other Demons

The fake love of Mira Jingshu’s stepmother as well as Yuri reminds me of the following verses in the Bible:

Pro 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

Last time I didn’t really understand what this verse meant. But after watching STH, wah, power man, revelation just flooded into me man.

I do have a few personal comments about STH. Donch worry, no more practical criticism.

1. Wah piang eh, very the draggy leh. Why huh? I reckon that they could have completed the story in 10 episodes or so, why must drag here drag there until macham so chiam ah. Buah tahan can.

2. The appearance of the sound mic is seriously getting on my nerves. I’ve since lost count the number of times I’ve seen the sound mic appearing. Very irritating and very unnatural leh. I mean you’re trying to make the story believable and all, then scar-ly, I see a sound mic, all the illusion is GONE!!!! Any one knows the Korean TV station can let them know or not huh. Most of the time, I see the sound mic in wide shots.

3. The continuity (also known as conti) is pretty bad also. For example, there’s one very blatant one, cannot forgive hor. It’s the last scene whereby Chengjun was playing the piano by the beach.

- It was an extreme wide shot (EWS) with his back view of him playing the piano. The shot then slowly zooms in to a wide shot (WS)

- Then cut to a close up (CU) of his fingers playing the piano. Then the shot tilts up to show a CU of Chengjun’s face.

- Then cut to a long shot (LS) front view of him playing the piano.

- Then cut to a mid-close up (MCU) front view of Chengjun’s face.

- Then cut to CU of his fingers playing the piano.

- Then cut to CU of Chenhjun’s face.

- Then cut to a WS back view of Chengjun playing the piano. And in this shot, one sees that the tide has come up to pass the piano.

- Then cut to CU fingers again.

- Then cut to CU Chengjun’s face.

- Then cut to hands closing the piano cover.

- Then cut to Chengjun standing up, looser MCU.

- Then cut to a WS back view of Chengjun standing next to the piano, with the tide not even touching the piano.

Did you notice it??? It’s the tide!!!!!!!!! The WS of Chengjun and piano shows that the tide is not up. Then when it comes to another WS of Chengjun, the tide is up!!! Cannot like that one leh. I mean even if you wanna cheat, can, can try and cheat. But cheat during the CUs lah. I know that time and tide waits for no man. But seriously consistency lor. If you want low tide, the low tide all the way. If want high tide, then high tide all the way lor. When it comes to the CUs, can cheat lah, because not showing sand and all mah. Just showing CUs of hands and face lor. Wah piang, seriously, this is pretty bad ok…

Aiya, I know lah, all these small mistakes, I just being a perfectionist and a pain in the backside. But still very irritating to see these kind of things leh.
