The Truth is Out About K-Dramas

I had the good fortune of watching the following:

1. My Tutor Friend

2. The Cool Guy

I quite like both shows, except for one point. The Korean girls’ mannerisms are all the same. Wah piang eh… macham some mannerism clone like that can. Laiteez one character. One. Wah… why huh? Is it society or what? Rather creepy you know.

One of my friends has a Korean boyfriend. The farnie thing is that he’s staying in New Zealand. Anyhoos, he came to Singapore to visit his girlfriend (who is also my friend. Is it that confusing??? No right????) then we met up lah, cos my friend wanted us to meet her Korean boyfriend mah.

Whilst blabbering like all girls do, we talked, of course, naturally, about Korean dramas, amongst other things. And I asked the Korean boyfriend the reason for the tragic endings in many Korean dramas. And, at long last, I received… ENLIGHTMENT!!

The reason: Korean dramas’ primary audience is the Korean housewives. And the housewives there LOVE twists and turnings and what not in their drama serials. Thus, the modern Korean drama as we know it is born.

Wah.. like that also can eh...
